El descendimiento
La Virgen María pidió a dos seguidores de Cristo, José de Arimatea y Nicodemo, que le ayudaran a solicitar el permiso a Poncio Pilato para bajar el cuerpo de la cruz y poderlo sepultar. Ovalle tomó como referencia para realizar esta composición, uno de los grabados de los hermanos Wierix, quienes a su vez, se inspiraron en el lienzo pintado por Pedro Pablo Rubens para realizar dicha estampa. Se aprecia el manejo del claroscuro, por tanto, la luz emana del cuerpo de Cristo y de la sábana santa.
