La orden Jesuita llega con la misión de fundar colegios, en 1573 construyen su primera iglesia que posteriormente fue el Colegio Máximo de San Pedro y San Pablo. Albergó a la Hemeroteca Nacional y ahora es sede de CNCRP-INBA.
