Las conchas del océano Pacífico llamadas Spondylus princeps fueron sumamente apreciadas por sus tonalidades de rojo a naranja y su simbolismo relacionado con la fecundidad y el inframundo. La creatividad y destreza de especialistas en la elaboración de objetos suntuosos con dicho material se evidencia en este pectoral realizado con más de 380 placas que estuvieron cosidas sobre un soporte de textil.
