Los artistas mayas fueron reconocidos por la belleza y maestría con las que narraron acontecimientos históricos relacionados con pasajes míticos, así como su visión del mundo. En este fragmento, un ser sobrenatural, posiblemente Itzamnaaj, la deidad más importante del mundo maya, lleva una bolsa con copal mientras camina frente a plantas de maíz. Quizá es una evocación de los rituales agrícolas realizados por los mayas de la Costa Oriental, entre los siglos XIII y XVI.
