Pendiente olmeca

Este hermoso pendiente de estilo olmeca fue elaborado en crisoprasa, un mineral de cuarzo de color verde intenso y gran dureza; al parecer, constituyó una reliquia y un importante símbolo de poder para los mayas de la isla de Cozumel. Aunque su origen se remonta al primer milenio antes de nuestra era en la región olmeca del Golfo, fue conservado por muchas generaciones hasta ser colocado como parte de una ofrenda funeraria en San Gervasio a fines del periodo Clásico Tardío (800 d.C.).
