San Ignacio vela sus armas ante la Virgen de Montserrat
Tiempo después de su conversión y ya recuperado de la herida en la pierna Ignacio dejó Loyola en 1522. El 21 de marzo veló sus armas toda la noche delante del altar de la Virgen de Montserrat en su santuario y cambió sus ropas de soldado por la librea de Jesucristo. Entregó sus ricas ropas a un mendigo y vistió un sayal de penitencia con unas sandalias y tomó un báculo con una calabacilla.
