Batalla del 2 de abril de 1867
El 2 de abril de 1867, el ejército imperialista, al pretender recuperar la ciudad de Puebla, fue derrotado por las fuerzas republicanas al mando del Gral. Porfirio Díaz. Tras ese triunfo, Díaz fue conocido durante muchos años como "el héroe del 2 de abril", por su mérito, su arrojo y su valor en el campo de batalla. Esta escena, retrata la entrada triunfal de las tropas mexicanas a Puebla, ocupando la plaza principal de la ciudad.
