La visitación
El evangelista san Lucas (1:39-41) en el Nuevo Testamento describe esta escena: “En aquellos días María se puso en camino y fue de prisa a la montaña a una ciudad de Judá. Entró en casa de Zacarías y saludó a Isabel. Y cuando Isabel escuchó el saludo de María, el Niño dio saltos en su seno e Isabel fue llena del Espíritu Santo […]”. Se observa a san José con la vara simbólica del almendro florecido, presencia la escena. Tanto él, como la Virgen María, llevan sombreros que aluden a su viaje. Luis Juárez fue el iniciador de la dinastía de pintores novohispanos más importante, ya que fue bisabuelo de los hermanos Nicolás y Juan Rodríguez Juárez. Vivió durante un proceso artístico que desembocó en el barroco novohispano.
