La asunción
Al tercer día de haber muerto la madre del Salvador, los apóstoles se percataron de que el sepulcro estaba vacío; la Virgen María había resucitado para subir en cuerpo y alma al cielo. Los evangelios canónicos no registran este hecho, el cual se construyó con el tiempo y fue finalmente proclamado por el Papa Pío XII como un dogma de fe el 1 de noviembre de 1950. En este lienzo, la Virgen sube al cielo acompañada por los ángeles, ahí la espera la Santísima Trinidad. A sus pies se encuentran san Pedro, santa María Magdalena y san Juan Evangelista. Obsérvese que sobre el pecho de la Virgen María irradia un sol que alude a Jesucristo como Sol de Justicia.
