Santa Elena

El emperador Constantino (siglo III) al convertirse al cristianismo, dio fin a las persecuciones en el Imperio Romano. Su madre Elena viajó a Tierra Santa para buscar la cruz donde murió el Salvador. En Jerusalén fundó la iglesia del Santo Sepulcro y en Belén la de la Natividad. Murió en Roma en el 329. Es patrona de los tintoreros y los fabricantes de agujas y clavos, es invocada para buscar objetos perdidos y su festividad es el 18 de agosto. Esta serie de las primeras santas del cristianismo, son copias de un modelo que repetía el estilo del pintor español Francisco de Zurbarán (1598-1664).
