La manufactura de este óleo sobre tela, anónimo, que ilustra el momento de la ascención de María, se puede ubicar en la transición del siglo XVII al XVIII, ya que presenta rasgos típicos de la pintura barroca novohispana. El estatismo del rostro de María contrasta con la ligereza y movilidad de los drapeados y de la atmósfera general. Ayudan a distinguir el tema la presencia de angelillos elevándola al Cielo y el atisbo del sepulcro y la tierra que vemos al calce del lienzo.
