En este lienzo se representó a san Miguel con la balanza como símbolo de que pesa las acciones de los hombres. Este tipo de imagen tiene su origen en la Edad Media, cuando la tradición popular atribuyó la función de pesar las almas y de rescatarlas de las garras del demonio. El arcángel mantiene la balanza en la mano izquierda, mientras que con la derecha empuña la espada para rechazar al demonio. (1) Arriba de la composición se observa la Santísima Trinidad enmarcada por dos ángeles turiferarios, en tanto que dos más en el plano intermedio de la composición, porta el báculo y la palma, atributos de san Miguel.
