Uno de los grupos más austeros que existieron en la Nueva España fue el de las religiosas capuchinas, pertenecientes a la orden de san Francisco.En este cuadro de forma rectangular aparece una religiosa capuchina con la cabeza inclinada y la mirada baja, las manos unidas sobre pecho y ocultas. Viste el hábito café de la orden, con coderas más claras, manto café, velo negro, toca y rostrillos blancos.
