En esta obra María Magdalena está representada en un momento de éxtasis. Sobre una roca se aprecia el vaso de ungüentos que se relaciona con el pasaje en que la santa ungió los pies de Jesús y los secó con su cabello. El cráneo y la cruz aluden a la vida de penitencia, a la contemplación de la muerte, y a la inútil vanidad terrena.
