Juan Correa pinto a la Virgen asunta, hincada sobre nubes, y no como tradicionalmente se le representa, o sea de pie sobre la luna y rodeada de los simbolos que ensalzan su pureza, los cuales en esta pintura se ven disminuidos en el pequeño paisaje de la parte inferior izquierda. Para evitar confundir la Iconografía de la Inmaculada con la de la Asuncion de la Virgen, Correa coloco dos angelillos, en la parte superior, sosteniendo una filacteria con la leyenda: Tota Pulchra Est Maria.
