Por esos días se reunió el sanedrín en casa del sumo sacerdote Caifás. Allí se acordó aprehender a Jesús para que fuera enjuiciado, a partir de engaños y mentiras, ya que no estaban de acuerdo con lo que él predicaba. Al enterarse de la conspiración, Judas Iscariote apóstol de Cristo, se acercó al consejo para pactar la entrega de su maestro a cambio de treinta monedas de plata. El sanedrín, era el consejo supremo de los judíos, presidido por un sumo sacerdote y conformado por veintitrés jueces, entre ancianos y sabios. Los demonios que posan sobre la cabeza de los sacerdotes, los mal aconsejan para enjuiciar a Cristo.
