Tanto para los concheros como para los antiguos fundadores de las civilizaciones prehispánicas, la poesía es un medio de comunicación de los corazones, así como el modo adecuado de dirigirse a Dios. El canto y la flor son la sublime forma en que el hombre platica sus penas a Dios. La poesía que se canta llega hasta la morada del Creador, por eso en los cantos el autor no se guarda nada y habla con verdad al supremo Dador de la Vida.
