Al parecer, al mismo tiempo que el mariachi se hacía imprescindible en la interpretación del son, se iba delineando en toda la región del Sur de Jalisco la del arpero solista. Por otra parte, la popularidad de estos músicos se enfatizó en la misma época de la salida y relegación del arpa en el mariachi.
