Prisciliano Sánchez alegoría a las Artes Liberales
El 12 de mayo de 1823, se declaró establecido el Estado Libre y Soberano de Xalisco, su primera Constitución fue promulgada en noviembre de 1824 y para enero de 1825, Prisciliano Sánchez Padilla se convirtió en su primer gobernador. Conforme a la ideología liberal, realizó reformas importantes en materia de Hacienda, instrucción escolar, seguridad pública y relaciones con la Iglesia.En esta obra se hace alusión a su filiación a través de las Artes Liberales, que eran siete disciplinas o profesiones académicas cultivadas por las personas libres, el Trivium: gramática, retórica y dialéctica (o lógica) y el Quadrivium: aritmética, geometría, música y astronomía; en oposición a las Artes Serviles que eran oficios manuales, propias de los siervos.
