Virgen de Guadalupe
Esta otra representación guadalupana de la colección del museo presenta un formato más sobrio y discreto. Es también de pincel anónimo, seguramente del siglo XVIII.
Vale la pena destacar dos aspectos esenciales de la guadalupana: su origen marcado por un fuerte sincretismo entre las religiones prehispánicas y el cristianismo; y los elementos iconográficos que hacen de ella una Virgen apocalíptica, como su manto “vestido de estrellas”, la luna a sus pies y los rayos del sol que la envuelven. Como singularidad, nótese el formato de las cartelas inferiores y la aparición de ángeles músicos en una de ellas.
