Cetro serpiente

Este cetro presenta motivos tallados que semejan el cuerpo escamoso de la serpiente y en el extremo posterior tiene dos orificios por donde se sujetaban varias plumas, posiblemente de quetzal. En el cetro se representa a la deidad de la serpiente de plumas preciosas, a quien los nobles mixtecos consideraban su antepasado mítico. Los cetros son un emblema de poder. Pueden describirse como un modelo reducido de un bastón de mando que simboliza autoridad política, sacerdotal o militar. (Martha Carmona)
